7th Grade and Science

I
grew up in Cookeville, Tennessee where I attended Tennessee
Technological University and received my Bachelor of Science degree
in Biology in 1989. After graduation, I moved to Vail, Colorado
where I had the opportunity to work with children and teach two
things I love, skiing in the winter and environmental education in
the summer. In 1993, I returned to the South, first living in
Atlanta, GA and then Cleveland, TN. During those years, I enjoyed
being a full time mom to my two daughters and working with the
children’s programs at First United Methodist Church. I also
completed a secondary education science certification from The
University of Tennessee, Chattanooga in 1997. I then went on to
graduate school and received my master’s degree in Educational
Leadership form Tennessee Tech in 2001.
An opportunity
arose for me to begin teaching science at the Lutheran School and I
have been here since 2001. As well as teaching 4th
through 8th grade science, I have taught middle school
study skills, 6th grade math, and 6th grade
language arts. One of my most enjoyable activities here at school is
being the Middle School Student Council faculty sponsor. It is a
great opportunity to develop relationships with students as they
grow as students, leaders, and as Christian role models.
I live in Hixson,
TN with my husband, Brad, and our two daughters, Katherine and
Paige. I enjoy reading, traveling and attending the various sporting
and artistic activities in which my family is involved. I am
delighted to be a part of the wonderful ministry here at Belvoir
Christian Academy.
