Hello, my name is Carlinda Townsend. I teach 4-year-old Preschool here at Belvoir Christian Academy.  I was born and raised in Chattanooga. I attended East Lake Elementary School, East Lake Junior High School and graduated from Chattanooga High school in 1965. I have two older sisters and one younger brother.

I attended Carson-Newman College and graduated from Covenant College in 1970. I majored in psychology and education.

I taught at Jackson Christian Academy in Jackson, GA., for two years. Returning to Chattanooga in 1972, I taught for the Chattanooga Public School System for 11 years. I chose to quit teaching in 1983 to stay at home and explore other things. In 1993, I returned to teaching at Lutheran School in the 3-year-old Preschool. I held that position for three years then moved to the 4-year-old classroom for three years. For the next two years, I served as the school librarian. A vacancy came in the 4-year-old class in fall of 2001 and I was asked to go back into the classroom.

My husband is Jack Townsend. He owns Townsend and Associates, located in East Ridge. We have one daughter and son-in-law, Tammy and Bobby Brock and one grandson, Tyler who is now three.

My home church is Brainerd Baptist Church. I enjoy sewing, cooking, and I am trying to get the hang of gardening.  I finished my first half marathon in January 2007.
